No one hunts star players quite like the Los Angeles Rams. According to a report by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Rams have agreed to terms with wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Not only does the acquisition provide quarterback Matthew Stafford with another receiving target downfield, but the move underscores the “all-in” mentality that the organization has operated with over the last three years.

Is there a limit to how top-heavy a roster can be? Asking for a friend:

While the exact terms of the deal have yet to be announced, Jackson will likely slot into the three-hole on Los Angeles' wide receiver chart behind Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. Though the former Pro Bowler doesn't have that much experience working that far down the depth chart, the low-pressure role might prove to be a boon for the wideout given his recent difficulties staying on the field. Since 2018, when he appeared in 12 games and caught over 700 receiving yards, Jackson has been limited to a mere eight contests over the last two seasons due to a myriad of injuries, including a severe ankle ailment that knocked him out for much of last year.

Once regarded as one of the most dynamic deep-field threats in the NFL, Jackson has accumulated over 10,000 receiving yards over the course of his career to go along with 56 touchdowns. While he may no longer possess the durability to occupy a number one receiving slot on a team, the wideout is still a speed threat against defenses, and should provide an excellent complement to Robert Woods when the Rams attempt to stretch the field.

For a quarterback that wanted out of Detroit because of a lack of talent around him, Matthew Stafford now has more weapons than he knows what to do with.
