The Los Angeles Rams are off to a strong start out of the gate to the 2018 season being the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL through the first six games played. Much of this has largely been fueled by the highly impressive play from star running back Todd Gurley putting together a potentially historic pace this season.

During a recent appearance on NFL Total Access, his teammate Robert Woods voiced during a segment where he gave his hot take he voiced that he believes Gurley could break Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson's single-season NFL record with 28 rushing touchdowns back in the 2006 campaign. Woods said as much on NFL Total Access during a segment called “Hot Take Tuesday.”

“I’m going to say Todd breaks LT’s record for the rushing touchdowns in a single season,” Woods said. “I believe it was 28. Gurley is hot. Gurley is hot.”

Tomlinson had put together an extremely productive campaign that season that saw him score and NFL-record 31 total touchdowns while rushing for 1,815 yards along with 50 catches for 508 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was the ultimate all-purpose running back that Gurley has continued to show that he can be.

He currently leads the league with 623 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns that is apart of 870 total yards from scrimmage with 11 total touchdowns. This was taken another level higher after a career-best 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Denver Broncos.

This alone has elevated him to the pace of posting 2,320 total scrimmage yards and 29 total touchdowns, which would put him in the same company as Tomlinson as the only other player to achieve that feat in a single season.

If he were to truly potentially test that mark it would require him to continue to notch rushing touchdowns at a high clip as Tomlinson notched a rushing touchdown in all but five games while tallying at least three touchdowns five times including four touchdowns twice.

Gurley currently has nine touchdowns with a score in four out of the first six games including a pair of three-touchdown performances. Ultimately, if he can continue to play a high level there is a chance he could possibly test that all-time mark.
