The Los Angeles Rams have quickly turned things around since the firing of Jeff Fisher. The team took a gamble on a first-timer and the youngest head coach in the NFL, Sean McVay.

The move to bring in McVay has thus far turned out to be a brilliant one. Although McVay deserves a lot of credit for the team's quick turnaround, the team also brought in arguably one of the best defensive coordinators in the league to help get this team back on track. Wade Phillips, as per usual, has hit it off with his players in Los Angeles and with a lot of big egos added to the defense this year, McVay has no worries about his defensive coordinator being able to handle the situation, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

After flipping the switch in Los Angeles last year by leading the team into the playoffs with one of the best offenses in the NFL, McVay and Phillips now have arguably the most talented defense in the NFL. The Rams brought in three potential game changers on defense with the additions of Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, and Aqib Talib.

Although these three players have All-Pro-caliber talent, all three come with a fair amount of baggage and can be difficult to work with as they've shown over the course of their careers thus far. Despite that fact, the team appears confident they have found the right mix of talent on both sides of the football to compete for a Super Bowl either next season or in the very near future.

With the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals seemingly entering a rebuilding process, the NFC West could be the Rams to lose for many years to come. The San Francisco 49ers are also on the upswing after their acquisition of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but Los Angeles is clearly the team to beat and could be the cream of the crop in the NFC in 2018.
