Los Angeles Rams rookie running back Darrell Henderson will likely not be the star of the reigning NFC champions' backfield, as third-year head coach Sean McVay admitted this week.

Henderson, 21, was selected by the Rams out of the University of Memphis in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft last April, but coming into the Los Angeles organization as a running back means facing an uphill battle for snaps as workhorse and three-time Pro-Bowler Todd Gurley receives the brunt of the offense's rushing carries.

Here's what the Rams coach had to say about the rookie Henderson's training camp thus far (via Cameron DaSilva in USA Today Sports' Rams Wire):

“I think really just more opportunities than anything else. You could see he was another week more comfortable,” McVay said of Henderson on Sunday. “There’s still some things that we can definitely do better. I don’t think he’s really had much of a chance with the exception of a couple runs that he had starting off really with the two-minute drive when he had a couple wide-zone runs and then another downhill, direct run. Other than that in the run-game, there really wasn’t any space to operate with to really be able to truly evaluate him from that perspective.”
