Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley is listed as doubtful for his team's NFC West showdown against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday due to a thigh injury, but head coach Sean McVay isn't ruling Gurley out just yet.

When asked about Gurley's status on Friday, McVay said the Rams are taking their time with it:

“We’ll have a little bit more clarity and it’s really just kind of taking our time making that decision,” said McVay, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Gurley suffered the injury last week during Los Angeles' Thursday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks and promptly sought treatment:

“He came in immediately,” McVay said. “He’s been doing everything in his power to be able to get himself ready to go.”

As for how much say Gurley has in whether or not he will suit up against the 49ers? McVay says that the halfback will have a say, but that ultimately, it will be a collaborative decision:

“I think he knows his body as well as anybody,” McVay said. “I think we all know what a tough, elite competitor he’s been in terms of the things that he’s been able to push through. Really, it’s just about that collaboration, that communication and then making sure we do, number one, what’s best for him.”

Gurley has carried the ball 64 times for 270 yards and five touchdowns while catching 14 passes for 68 yards on the season. He has not averaged four yards per carry since Week 1 when he toted the ball 14 times for 97 yards.
