The Los Angeles Rams suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday afternoon 45-35 to the New Orleans Saints.

Despite getting the short end of the stick against the Saints, the Rams have remained the betting favorites to win Super Bowl LIII by BetOnline.AG.

It may have been a discouraging result for the Rams having fallen just short against the Saints in a game that saw them put up a big fight. Los Angeles had fallen behind 35-14 late in the second quarter, but that didn't deter them from making a comeback scoring 21-unanswered points to tie the game at 35 in the fourth quarter. The game was in the balance late in the period until Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters gave up a 72-yard touchdown to wide receiver Michael Thomas on a third down while it was still a three-point game.

The Rams proved in that game that they could push their way back from any lead behind their explosive offense. Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff displayed plenty of poise in fueling the comeback while utilizing his weapons in the passing game along with star running back Todd Gurley, who is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign. There may be some questions defensively, but Los Angeles looks to have the talent on both ends of the field that could put them in contention for the Super Bowl.

That said, the Rams have a few more tough tests ahead of them in the regular season over the next few weeks with the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles. This slate of games will be telling of what type of team that if they can truly contend for the Super Bowl. Until then, it is clear that Los Angeles still has a great level of expectations around them moving forward this season.
