Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth was considering retirement before the 2021 season. Whitworth, however, decided to have a procedure on his ankle and made the decision to return for the 2021 season. In retrospect, the veteran Rams lineman made a fantastic decision, as the team went on to win the Super Bowl. However, the 40-year-old is now reportedly “leaning towards” retiring. However, Whitworth revealed one thing that might make it harder for him to call it quits. The Rams veteran said that he received an epic message from NHL legend Wayne Gretzky after the Super Bowl victory, via NFL.com.

“I'll never forget after we won the game, the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky called me, cause I live out here near him in Sherwood (California),” Whitworth said. “He was like, ‘Hey Whit, there's only one thing better than winning one, and that's winning two.' And I said, ‘You know what, I can't argue with you.' It's gonna be tough. One way or another it's gonna be a tough decision.”

Gretzky has a point. Of course, he would also know a thing or two about winning multiple title, having taken home four Stanley Cup trophies in his storied career. Perhaps, Whitworth, who seems to be leaning slightly towards retiring, may reconsider after hearing these wise words from the “Great One.”
