In what some might consider as a shock move, Bruce Allen finds himself without a job after the 2019 season. However, he may not be vacant for too long as the Los Angeles Rams are reportedly eyeing his services to help bring their team back to the Super Bowl.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk was one of the first NFL journalists to catch wind of the rumors. Should the deal push through, it would become one of the more interesting moves to happen before the 2020 offseason officially begins.

Per a league source, there’s already talk in league circles of Allen becoming a consultant for the Rams, if he completely exits the Washington organization after the 2019 season concludes.

At first, it was unclear if the rumors have any weight to them as Allen was in no shape or form going to be released from the Redskins. However, it's been made clear that he will be let go of his duties as president of football operations. According to USA Today, it would end a decade of “mostly on-field futility.”

It would seem weird why the Rams would pick him up, but Florio managed to connect the dots.

Allen hired Rams COO Kevin Demoff in 2005. With the Bucs, Demoff assisted in contract negotiations, salary cap management, strategic planning, and both college and pro scouting. Allen’s tenure with the Bucs also coincided with the arrival of Rams coach Sean McVay, who served as assistant receivers coach in 2008, the last year of the Allen/Jon Gruden regime in Tampa.

If this takeover does happen, Rams Nation will have to prepare themselves for a rough couple of years. After all, Bruce Allen's biggest achievement in his decade-long tenure with the Redskins was losing in the Wild Card twice.
