The 2018 NFL draft has brought some elite players into the league, but there are plenty of teams who probably wish they could have done the draft a little differently. Let’s re-draft the top 10 of the 2018 NFL draft, after two full seasons in the league.

1. Cleveland Browns

Original Pick: Baker Mayfield

Re-draft Pick: Lamar Jackson

There is still hope that Baker Mayfield will be a strong quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. But it’s pretty clear at this point if the team were to go back in time, they would want to take a different quarterback.

Lamar Jackson was originally selected with the last pick of the first round by the Baltimore Ravens. And it’s pretty clear at this point he would be the best option for Browns. It’s also the Browns though, so he might not have had as much success as he has had with the Ravens.

2. New York Giants

Original Pick: Saquon Barkley

Re-draft Pick: Saquon Barkley

The New York Giants’ selection of Saquon Barkley at the time was a bit head-scratching but looking back at it, there is no doubt this is the right decision. During the 2019 season, Barkley dealt with injuries but he still rushed 217 times for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 52 passes for 438 yards and two touchdowns.

3. New York Jets

Original Pick: Sam Darnold

Re-draft Pick: Sam Darnold

This might not be the right selection for the New York Jets, but here there really wasn’t a great selection for them. They could have tried to improve their offensive line, but even if they did that, they still didn’t have a decent quarterback to protect. Sam Darnold has been up and down during his career, but he has still shown flashes of being a franchise quarterback.

4. Cleveland Browns

Original Pick: Denzel Ward

Re-draft Pick: Denzel Ward

The Browns might not have gotten the first overall pick, but their fourth overall pick was the right one. Denzel Ward has proven to be a shutdown corner the first couple of years in his career. The Browns’ defense still has a lot of work left to be done, but Ward is a player they can build around.

5. Denver Broncos

Original Pick: Bradley Chubb

Re-draft Pick: Quenton Nelson

The Denver Broncos had a very good selection with Bradley Chubb, but there was still a better pick with this selection. Quenton Nelson has already quickly proven that he is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. With the Broncos’ struggles on the offensive line, there is no doubt that Nelson would have been the right selection here.

6. Indianapolis Colts

Original Pick: Quenton Nelson

Re-draft Pick: Darius Leonard

The Indianapolis Colts hit on each of their first two round picks in the 2018 draft, but with Nelson off the board, their team would get a lot worse. The Colts couldn’t lose out on each of their first two selections so they would select Darius Leonard, their second-round pick at sixth overall. He has been a standout for the Colts, and should have been selected earlier than the second round.

7. Buffalo Bills

Original Pick: Josh Allen

Re-draft Pick: Josh Allen

Josh Allen isn’t the sexiest pick from the 2018 draft but he was still the right pick for the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen has led the Bills to the playoffs and has gotten better each season. During the 2019 season, Allen threw for 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The hope is he will continue to be better as the years go on, and lead the Bills to their first Super Bowl victory.

8. Chicago Bears

Original Pick: Roquan Smith

Re-draft Pick: Bradley Chubb

Roquan Smith has been a very good player for the Chicago Bears but with Bradley Chubb still on the draft board, there is no way the Bears would pass on them. During the 2019 season, Chubb had 12 sacks. He dealt with injuries during the 2019 season, but he still would be the right selection at number eight for the Bears.

9. San Francisco 49ers

Original Pick: Mike McGlinchey

Re-draft Pick: D.J. Moore

The 49ers have been looking for a true number one receiver, something that D.J. Moore would provide to them. During the 2019 season, Moore caught 87 passes for 1,175 yards and four touchdowns. Moore looks like he is only getting better, and if he would have been on the squad they wouldn’t have had to trade for Emmanuel Sanders during the 2019 season. Would that have been enough for them to win the Super Bowl? That might be a stretch, but there is no doubt the 49ers’ offense would be even better with Moore in the fold.

10. Arizona Cardinals

Original Pick: Josh Rosen

Re-draft Pick: Minkah Fitzpatrick

The Arizona Cardinals selected Josh Rosen with the 10th pick and although he never received a fair shot at the game, there is no doubt he was the wrong pick. Taking Baker Mayfield might make sense because they needed a quarterback, but he could have been benched after one season with Kliff Kingsbury wanting the right guy. Minkah Fitzpatrick would have been the best player available on the board. Drafting Fitzpatrick also would have allowed the Cardinals to trade Patrick Peterson to get more draft capital.

Fitzpatrick would have made the Cardinals’ defense a lot better.
