Win or lose, Jay Gruden should remain as the Washington Redskins head coach after Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, his coaching status does not “hinge” on Sunday's result, despite previous reports that said he'd be fired if his team loses.

Though Sunday's result may not decide his job, Gruden is on the hot seat after starting 0-3 and not showing much fight doing so. In the first three weeks of the season, the Redskins have been outscored by their opponents 94-63.

On Tuesday, following a 31-15 loss to the Chicago Bears on “Monday Night Football,” Gruden said in a conference call that he doesn't feel that his job is at stake.

“No. I haven’t felt like that. But who knows?,” said Gruden, via Pro Football Talk. “I’m just trying to concentrate on the Giants right now, put our best foot forward, learn from our mistakes here and try to get better. That’s all we’re trying to do here as a staff and go from there.”

While Gruden won't admit to the warming of his seat, the results speak for themselves. Since his hiring in 2014, Washington has gone 35-44-1 and made the playoffs once, only to lose. Included in his losing record are years of drama surrounding the organization (rarely from his end), turmoil, turnover and a recent revolving door of quarterbacks.

Gruden may get to keep his job on Sunday, no matter the outcome. But, losing to the Giants to start 0-4 would do anything but solidify his chances to stick around.
