The Green Bay Packers have not been known for being aggressive in trade talks or free agency over the past few years, but new general manager Brian Gutekunst has changed the way the franchise thinks. Ty Montgomery was traded to the Baltimore Ravens early this afternoon, but Gutekunst was not done.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Packers have traded star safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins for a fourth-round pick.

Needless to say, this will end up being one of the biggest trades of the deadline. Clinton-Dix has been one of the NFL's top safeties for a few years now. He has also been a huge part of the Packers' defense.

Throughout the seven games that he has played for the Packers this season, Clinton-Dix has racked up 27 tackles to go along with a sack, forced fumble, three interceptions, and three defended passes.

Washington came into the deadline hoping to find a defensive playmaker. That is exactly what they are getting with Clinton-Dix. The only potentially bad thing about the trade for the Redskins is that Clinton-Dix is scheduled to hit free agency this offseason.

Regardless of his contract situation, the Redskins should be excited about being able to acquire him. Clinton-Dix will bring a new dynamic to their defense. He's a sure tackler and is excellent in coverage as well.

All of that being said, the NFL trade deadline has not disappointed after a lot of hype leading up to it. Plenty of teams are making big moves, with the Packers and Redskins happily taking part in the madness.
