The Utah Jazz have added themselves to the Ricky Rubio sweepstakes this offseason. The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly have interest in moving him and acquiring a star point guard to pair with their new acquisition Jimmy Butler, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Rubio hung around for the entirety of the 2016-17 season, proving to be a much more effective floor general than Kris Dunn, who was shipped to the Chicago Bulls along with high-riser Zach LaVine and the No. 7 overall pick of the NBA Draft.
The Wolves could use the Jazz's interest as a way to attain the services of point guard George Hill — one of the four free agent point guards that president and head coach Tom Thibodeau has had in his crosshairs since the beginning of the offseason.
Minnesota has targeted Kyle Lowry, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, and Hill as potential candidates to get the keys to the starting point guard job upon Rubio's departure — reportedly looking for better shooters to space the floor and aid Butler's contact-heavy game-style.
The Jazz have $16 million of free cap space that they can potentially deploy and upgrade the roster between now and June 30th, per Albert Nahmad of RealGM.
