It looks like the New York Knicks want back in during the 2016 NBA Draft.

Despite being one of several teams without a draft pick, the Knicks don't plan on ending the night without a pick. According to Ian Begley of ESPN, New York will make an effort to acquire a draft pick either late in the first round or early in the second round:

“The Knicks plan to acquire a pick in June's draft. The best-case scenario would probably be a late first-round pick but second-round is more likely. The club has shown interest in several players in recent weeks, including Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell, who has a workout scheduled with the club next month. New York also interviewed Kansas guard Wayne Selden at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago and has expressed interest in him as the draft approaches, according to league sources.”

For those that are wondering how the Knicks don't have a single pick in this year's draft, it is a simple matter of the previous regime trading away the team's assets. They lost their first-round draft pick when they acquired Andrea Bargnani from the Toronto Raptors in 2013. They traded away their second-round draft pick in the 2012 deal to acquire Raymond Felton and Kurt Thomas. That pick now belongs to the Houston Rockets.

While the Knicks may desire a draft pick, the question is, who are they going to trade for that pick? The only plausible pieces are veterans Robin Lopez and Jose Calderon.

Regardless, look for the Knicks to try to make some moves leading up to the draft.
