The Alabama Crimson Tide are showing why they are the No. 1 team in the country and in the Rose Bowl.

Alabama took a commanding lead over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Friday's Rose Bowl game. Star wide receiver DeVonta Smith got the Crimson Tide on the board after scoring on a 26-yard bubble screen. Alabama also scored on its second drive, thanks mostly due to star running back Najee Harris.

Harris had a spectacular 53-yard run to put Alabama in the red zone, and his athleticism was on full display.

The senior back hurdled a Notre Dame defender before continuing to race down the sidelines. Harris did not just hurdle the defender, he cleared him pretty easily.

Najee Harris has every reason to regard himself as the best back in the country, and this highlight in the Rose Bowl is just one part of that.

The latest in Alabama's seemingly endless string of quality rushers entered Friday's game with close to 1,600 yards from scrimmage and a whopping 27 total touchdowns. Harris was averaging close to six yards per carry, and he also had 32 receptions for 316 yards. Might he be good enough to go in the first round this upcoming April?

It is more of a rarity for running backs to be chosen in the first round these days. Even a heralded star like Saquon Barkley was seen as a reach of a pick by the New York Giants back in 2018.

However, teams will not hesitate to draft backs like Harris, a big and physical presence who is also a quality pass-catcher out of the backfield.
