Greg Olsen is 35 years old and heading into his 14th NFL season (and first with the Seattle Seahawks), but the tight end insists he can still bring it on Sundays.

“I just feel like I still have game left, I thought I still had things to prove – both to myself and I thought I had some work to do to cement myself with my legacy as a player,” Olsen said on 710 ESPN Seattle's “Danny and Gallant”.

Olsen has contemplated joining the broadcast booth for a few seasons now, especially after two injury-riddled campaigns in 2017 and 2018. He previously auditioned for Monday Night Football and called games during bye weeks.

Ultimately, though, Olsen opted to sign a one-year contract with the Seahawks after racking up 52 receptions for 597 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games for the Carolina Panthers in 2019.

“I didn't like the way…2017 and 2018 went, with being hurt and getting dinged up and not feeling like I was able to be myself. That was kind of a bitter pill to swallow to think that my career would end like that,” he said.

Greg Olsen added that the chance to play for Pete Carroll and catch passes from Russell Wilson offered “a really unique opportunity and a really unique circumstance to come out with a winning franchise and a proven head coach and proven quarterback.”

The three-time Pro Bowler said he believes the top organizations have an unceasing will to improve, and he's already witnessed that in Seattle.

“You can tell why they've always won out here,” he said. “The attention to detail from how they run their team meetings to the things they go over and situations they cover, you can tell why that success has been relatively consistent.”
