Colin Kaepernick's bid to return to the NFL is now in full swing. It's been over five years since the 34-year-old took the field but despite his lengthy hiatus, the former San Francisco 49ers star quarterback is doing everything he can to come back and play the game he loves. Right now, his chance might come with the Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll recently revealed that Kaepernick has reached out to him to express his desire to return to the NFL. Carroll was quick to play down the prospect of Kap potentially signing with Seattle, but the 70-year-old shot caller is adamant about Kaepernick deserving another shot:

“I don't know if it's here. I don't know where it is. I don't know if it's even in football. I don't know,” Carroll said, via Rob Maaddi of CBC. “People get a second opportunity in their lifetime … and they can make the most of it if they're ready for it. I don't mean to send out any mixed messages about that. But I wanted you to understand that that's how serious this is. It's second chance time.”

Carroll was unwilling to commit to the possibility of bringing Kaepernick to Seattle but what is clear here is that he believes Kap should get another chance in the league. The former Nevada standout's career came to a screeching halt in 2016 when he started kneeling during the national anthem. This was met by controversy throughout the league and Kap has since been out of the NFL.

Kaepernick recently worked out with Seahawks All-Pro wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Carroll himself was made aware of this development courtesy of Kaepernick himself who sent a video of the workout to the Seattle head coach:

“He contacted me the other day and said, `Hey, I'd like to get a shot. I'm working out,”‘ Carroll said. “And so he sent me some video and next thing I know he's working out with with Tyler Lockett. I don't know how that happened.”

Carroll liked what he saw in the video as he commended Kaepernick's ability to keep his body in great shape throughout his hiatus from the league:

“I don't know, but he's making a remarkable bid for it to sustain his conditioning for the four years he's been out, going on five,” Carroll said. “Who knows? I don't know. We'll see.”

You could argue that Kaepernick still had a lot left in him when he was unceremoniously exiled from the NFL. It's been quite some time now, but he appears to be completely determined to come back. If anyone deserves a second chance at it then it has to be Colin Kaepernick.
