Ladies and gentlemen, we (reportedly) have a trade! According to a Tuesday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to trade tight end Nick Vannett to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While patience remains a virtue, the return for Seattle has yet to be made public, unfortunately.
However, it is also worth noting that the Steelers currently have fellow tight ends Vance McDonald, Xavier Grimble and Zach Gentry on the team's roster. On the other hand, Seahawks tight end Will Dissly has emerged as a legitimate target for franchise quarterback Russell Wilson while it now appears as though Seattle will be putting even more faith in Dissly going forward.
Seattle does have a fullback on the team's current roster as well in Nick Bellore, which may have helped the Seahawks ultimately make the decision to part ways with Vannett.
The Seahawks are now 2-1 on the season after already defeating both the Cincinnati Bengals and aforementioned Steelers. Seattle is coming off of the NFC West franchise's first loss of the season, though, as the Seahawks just recently lost at home to the New Orleans Saints. In Week 4, the Seahawks will battle it out with the rival Arizona Cardinals.
The Steelers are struggling mightily while Pittsburgh has fallen to a winless 0-3 on the season. After getting absolutely throttled by the heralded New England Patriots back in Week 1, the Steelers have since lost to both the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. Of course, Pittsburgh remains without franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season due to injury.
Pittsburgh will now take on the rival Bengals in Week 4.
