New Philadelphia 76ers center Dwight Howard met with the Sixers media on Wednesday and stated that Ben Simmons is a young LeBron James (via Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times).

Howard, who played with LeBron on the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019-20, is very excited to team up with Simmons on the Sixers now.

Ben Simmons has been compared to LeBron James before since both stars are elite point-forwards possessing tremendous vision and finishing ability.

However, James is a way better jump shooter than Simmons, who has only made two 3-pointers in his NBA career. The Sixers All-Star doesn't even have a mid-range jumper yet. That is going to have to change if Philadelphia is going to win a championship with Simmons and Joel Embiid.

During the 2019-20 season, Simmons appeared in 57 games for the Sixers. He averaged 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.0 assists a night, but wasn't able to play in the 2020 postseason against the Boston Celtics due to a knee injury that ultimately required surgery.

Without Simmons, the Sixers got swept by the Celtics at Walt Disney World in the NBA bubble. Brett Brown was fired as head coach and replaced by Doc Rivers.

Dwight Howard, who won his first championship after the Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in the 2020 Finals, will be Embiid's backup on the Sixers. The center they used to call Superman put up 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Lakers in 2019-20.
