With all the Spider-Man news going around, one would think things are looking up for Sony's Spider-Man Universe. However, the long-awaited sequel to 2018's Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage might be delayed to January 2022.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Trailer

Multiple sources report that Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage could be delayed to January 21, 2022.

According to Variety, sources have revealed that the highly-anticipated Venom sequel won't show in theatres this 2021. Studios are wrestling with putting movies exclusively in theaters, but given the uncertainties around COVID-19 things are still up in the air.

Sony hasn't confirmed anything yet and the reports indicate that the company will wait until after the annual CinemaCon exhibition before making an announcement if any. If in case the Venom delay pushes through to January 2020, Jared Leto's Morbius would also get delayed.

This will be Venom's fourth delay if confirmed by Sony. The film was set to premiere in June, before getting pushed back to September 17, then September 24, and then most recently October 15.

It seems like Spider-Man's frenemy can't get a break. Let's hope that the film doesn't actually get delayed as fans, including myself, can't wait to see Carnage rip Venom to pieces. Maybe they're going to connect it to Spider-Man: No Way Home? Who knows.
