Given a choice, most NFL head coaches would probably opt to deal with another opposing quarterback than Green Bay Packers gunslinger Aaron Rodgers. That’s not the case with Pittsburgh Steelers sideline boss Mike Tomlin, who said that he’s looking forward to his team sharing the field with Rodgers in this coming Thursday’s preseason matchup at Lambeau Field, per Bryan Deardo of 247 Sports.

“I hope he does play,” Tomlin said before Green Bay officially ruled Rodgers as active for Thursday night's game. “You like those challenges of seeing quality players.”

Rodgers is reportedly going to start against the Steelers, which would add spice to an otherwise meaningless exhibition matchup. It can be remembered that Rodgers was under center for the Packers, when they defeated Tomlin and the Steelers back in Super Bowl XLV over seven years ago. Rodgers put up a performance for the ages in that game, slicing  upthe Steelers’ defense that featured the likes of James Harrison and Troy Polamalu by passing for 304 yards on 24-of-39 completions.

The memory of that Super Bowl loss definitely still lingers in Mike Tomlin, so anytime a chance to get back at Rodgers comes, regardless of the setting, the head coach will always try to take advantage of it.

The Steelers, however, are unlikely to send their own franchise quarterback to the field on Thursday after Ben Roethlisberger hurt his head during practice on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh is looking to win two in a row in the preseason after shooting down the Philadelphia Eagles in a 31-14 road victory last week.
