Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt has had quite an impressive campaign in his fifth season with the team, and he has now reached yet another notable feat.
Watt came into the Steelers’ Week 15 home matchup against the Tennessee Titans with 16.0 sacks on the year, which ranked him in the top spot on the season. Watt also sat in a tie with longtime Steelers linebacker James Harrison for the most sacks in a season in team history; the former pass rusher accomplished this feat over his NFL Defensive Player of the Year-winning campaign in the 2008 season.
Now, Watt holds sole possession of this record in Steelers franchise history.
Over the third quarter of the contest, Watt notched the 17th sack of his season as he brought down Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill with relative ease.
Harrison congratulated Watt in a recorded message posted by the Steelers' official Twitter account.

Watt appeared to have recorded half a sack in the second quarter when he and defensive end Cameron Heyward both got to Tannehill. However, the NFL credited Heyward with a full sack. It remains to be seen whether the league will opt to later give Watt half a sack for the play.
Watt simply continues to make a strong case to be the top contender for the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.
