The Phoenix Suns are well on their way to a long and successful postseason. This could finally be the year that the team earns their first NBA championship title, especially following their record-breaking performance Tuesday night.

The Suns' win over the Los Angeles Lakers had a lot of meaning. It knocked the Lakers out of playoff contention, but, more importantly to Phoenix, it marked the Suns' franchise record of 63 regular-season wins.

Devin Booker led the Suns to the historic win with 32 points, four assists, and seven rebounds. After the game, the shooting guard decided to turn the spotlight to Al McCoy, the longtime radio broadcast announcer of the Suns.

He signed his game jersey and gave it to McCoy, who was courtside announcing the Suns' astonishing feat.

The Crossover tweeted the heartwarming moment Wednesday afternoon.

“50th season, baby,” Booker said, handing McCoy his jersey and shaking his hand. “Franchise record. Love you man, appreciate you, for real.”

McCoy has been the team's radio broadcaster since 1972, and he is celebrating his 50th year with the organization. Turning 89-years-old on April 26, McCoy is the longest-tenured NBA broadcaster.

McCoy is highly regarded within the league and the Suns' organization and is known in Phoenix as The Voice of the Suns. Booker had a nickname of his own for McCoy, signing the gifted jersey to “Al the legend.”

Phoenix holds an overwhelming lead with the best record in the league and clinched the first seed in the West in the 2022 NBA Playoffs.
