Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams felt the same way about his team's Game 6 performance against the Dallas Mavericks as the rest of the NBA world did. The NBA Coach of the Year didn't hold back while talking with reporters following the 113-86 loss in Dallas Thursday night, which sent the Suns to Game 7 on Sunday.

Williams says the Suns weren't prepared for the “desperation” the Mavericks would play with while on the brink of elimination.

“I didn't think we understood the desperation they were going to play with,” he said. “And couple that with the turnovers that we had tonight, it's a recipe for what we just got.”

The Suns committed 22 turnovers in Game 6. Williams blames it on disorganization

“We were about as unorganized on offense tonight that we've ever been. … We just did not have the focus and determination that it takes to win a game like this on the road.”

At times, the Suns look disjointed in their half-court offense. The masterclass of ball movement the team displayed throughout the year was absent. They forced the ball into tight windows and Dallas capitalized. The Mavericks scored 29 points off turnovers in Game 6. The Suns scored just six. That's the game right there.

Of course, the Suns aren't on their death beds quite yet. The home team has won all six games thus far, and the Suns have the pleasure of hosting the Mavericks in the deciding Game 7. Williams isn't all that worried.

“We understand and know what it takes to beat this team,” he said. “We've done it. Now we gotta do it for 48 minutes.”
