The Phoenix Suns have had a busy summer adding pieces to the puzzle to their young core group.

The latest move came on Friday afternoon with the acquisition of guard Troy Daniels and a 2018 second-round pick from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for a protected 2018 second-round selection. According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, this was a move made after the team talked it over with third-year guard Devin Booker.

Through his first two seasons in the league with the Suns, Booker has quickly emerged as one of the promising young talents. The fact that the team talked to the 20-year-old ahead of time given that both he and Daniels had their prior issues shows how much they value him.

Booker is one of the centerpieces to the team for the long-term future and appeasing him is an essential part of the process. This also makes it clear that the Suns are looking to build around the former Kentucky product.

Daniels has bounced around the league in his first four seasons with Phoenix marking the fifth team that he has played for in his brief NBA career. In his lone campaign with the Grizzlies, he averaged 8.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per contest in 67 games with three starts.
