New Houston Texans wideout Brandin Cooks will be joining his third locker room in the last four seasons going into the 2020 season. However, while the team he has played on has changed often, one thing that has remained constant for the 26-year-old is his nickname.

Cooks is known by some as “The Archer.” The nickname doesn't refer to the FX animated sitcom or any personal experience with a bow and arrow, but rather, it stems from a particular bible verse.

“My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 144:6 ‘Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy. Shoot your arrows and rout them,'” Brandin Cooks told the Houston media covering the Texans. “So, for me it’s another way to glorify God, go out there and play, and just come up with a unique way to glorify Him.”

A former first-round pick out of Oregon State, Cooks has carved out a solid career through six seasons. In those seasons, the speedy wideout has recorded a total of 5,730 yards and 34 touchdowns.

However, despite solid production, Cooks has struggled to stay with one team. Drafted by the New Orleans Saints, he was traded to the New England Patriots after just three seasons. After one year as a Patriot, he was sent off to the Los Angeles Rams where he has spent the past two campaigns.

Cooks impressed in his first season in LA, totaling 80 catches for 1,204 yards and five touchdowns. However, his production dropped off severely in year number two, managing only 583 yards and two touchdowns. In April, he was traded to the Texans along with a 2022 fourth-round pick in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick.

Cooks will be instrumental in helping the Texans overcome the loss of superstar wideout De'Andre Hopkins, whom the team traded away earlier in the offseason.
