The Houston Texans made headlines when they opted to part ways with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a deal that essentially netted them running back David Johnson. It seems he's one of the few that is excited about the deal.

Johnson's time with the Arizona Cardinals had come to an unceremonious end. According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, he was happy to hear that he had been given a new opportunity in Houston:

“We were very excited. The Texans are very successful, very thankful talking to Bill O'Brien and the way he wanted to utilize me. It was excitement from the start. I have that chip back on my shoulder. I want to get back to 2016, if not better.”

Johnson's comments are certainly understandable considering all that had transpired in Arizona. After all, he seemingly emerged as one of the NFL's elite running backs with his stellar 2016 campaign until his career was derailed by injuries.

As a result, Johnson was relegated to a complementary role in Arizona's backfield during the 2019 NFL season. The arrival of running back Kenyan Drake only helped solidify this notion after rushing for 345 yards and two touchdowns on 94 carries while hauling in 36 receptions for 370 yards and four touchdowns.

Although Johnson has fallen on some rough times in recent years, there is still good reason for him to be confident about a potential resurgence in 2020. His versatile skill set should allow him plenty off opportunities to bounce back as the new workhorse for the Texans.
