Deshaun Watson became the latest quarterback to sign a massive extension and the Houston Texans surprised him with some of the prominent figures in his life during his press conference. After listening to everyone close to him speak on his success, an 'emotional' Watson shared what he's gone through to get to this point.

“I mean, everything, a broken rib, a punctured lung, torn ACL, whatever it takes,” Deshaun Watson said. “I mean, they have to really keep me off the field. I mean, kicked in the eye, eyeball coming out, whatever it takes, I’m on that field. Until that doctor is forcing me and holding me down, I’m on the field trying to win. I’m trying to win at everything — just at life in general. Never trying to compare myself to other people. I’m focusing on my situation, Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans, and that’s what I’m focused on and locked in on. So whatever it takes, I’m doing whatever it takes to get to where we want to get to.”

From the moment Watson arrived in the NFL in 2017, he had the makings of being a superstar. En route to a possible MVP campaign as a rookie though, Watson would suffer a torn ACL.

Besides the torn ACL, Deshaun Watson has endured other injuries in his first three seasons with the Texans. But the poised signal-caller has continued to battle back regardless of what is thrown at him.

The Texans made Watson the second-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, giving him a four-year deal that can reach up to $177 million. Without a doubt, he deserves every penny of the contract he received for his on and off-the-field contributions.

As he enters his fourth season with Houston, Watson will no longer have DeAndre Hopkins as his No. 1 target. Given all of the injuries and obstacles he's had to overcome already, playing sans Hopkins isn't going to slow down Watson.
