During the offseason, the Houston Texans have taken a hit on their offensive rotation due to the DeAndre Hopkins trade. However, their formidable defensive line bannered by JJ Watt is looking to improve more heading to the upcoming season.

The former Wisconsin Badger shared to Sarah Barshop of ESPN:

Like many people this spring and summer, JJ Watt has had a lot of downtime while quarantining during the COVID-19 outbreak.

But unlike a lot of people, Watt says his “body feels as good as it has felt since probably 2014 or '15 because “the quarantine situation has given me literally nothing to do but work out every day.”

“I mean, there's nothing else you can do,” the Texans star said. “You can't go out, you can't go to the movies, you can't go to eat. So the workout program for me this offseason has been awesome because I've had a full offseason to do my workouts exactly how I needed to do them. I've been able to focus on my nutrition every single day. I've counted every single calorie the whole way. Basically tried to fully transform my body from the beginning of the offseason until now.

“It truly has been one of the best offseasons from a workout standpoint that I've ever had, and I'm very, very pleased about it. My body feels as good as it has felt since probably 2014, 2015, somewhere around there. So I'm really looking forward to getting into camp and just getting to work.”

Watt's 2019 campaign was barred by an injury sustained during Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders. He suffered a season-ending torn pectoral but the Texans still managed to escape with a 27-24 win. He was re-activated on December 31, 2019, prior to the team's Wild Card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. His return was crucial to the Texans' securing a 22-19 overtime win to advance to the next round.

However, luck didn't stay on the Texans' side much longer as they faced powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC semi-final round. They were dominated by the eventual Super Bowl champions, 51-31, which concluded their 2019 run.

With a healthy JJ Watt back in action, the Texans are looking to contend even in the post-Hopkins era. The team will be pitted against the Chiefs on September 10 in the 2020 kickoff game.
