The Houston Texans had a strong regular season in 2018, going 11-5 and winning the AFC South Division. However, the season ended quickly after that. Houston lost in the first round of the playoffs to its divisional rivals, the Indianapolis Colts.

The hope for the Texans is that they can build off the fantastic 2018 regular season and have a much deeper playoff run this season.

However, 2019 is already throwing some speed bumps in that path. Arguably Houston's two biggest stars won't be available right away.

Defensive end JJ Watt and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will begin the Texans' training camp on the PUP list.

The Houston Texans have an extremely fun team to watch. There's a lot of balance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. However, if there were any players that would cripple the team if they weren't available, it might be these two.

DeAndre Hopkins has the surest hands in the NFL. He does so with crazy athleticism and incredible route running. All this gives him a very strong argument as the best wide receiver in the NFL.

Meanwhile, JJ Watt is still one of the most dominant defensive players of all time. The defensive end is extremely skilled at getting to the quarterback. That's not the only way he creates havoc, though. He's also very strong against the run and one of the best in the world at tipping passes at the line. There's a reason they call him “JJ Swat.”

The good news for the Houston Texans is that the two are available to return at any time. Hopefully that means this is just precautionary and a way to give the two some extra time off to recover. It's better for football if these two are playing in as many games as possible.
