Houston Texans safety Justin Reid was involved in a car accident on Sunday, when he was hit by a drunk driver. Thankfully for all parties involved, nobody was seriously injured in the accident. Taking to social media last night, Reid revealed that he was fine after the incident, and even said he feels better than he does after some actual football games.

Reid said that “aside from a few bruises,” nobody involved in the accident was seriously injured. Reid also reflected on the accident, saying that it made him think about Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and his own serious car accident.

In a follow up tweet, Reid jokingly said he feels better after the accident than he does after some football games. This is likely in reference to the fact that some players and fans compare taking hits in football to being in a car accident, and the fact that Reid is acknowledging it speaks to how true it just might be.

The No. 68 overall pick of of the 2018 NFL Draft, Reid is looking to build on a very solid rookie season. After rising to a prominent role in the Texans defense and starting 12 games, Reid tallied 88 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries throughout the season last year. With the Texans losing superstar safety Tyrann Mathieu in free agency, the team will likely be hoping Reid can continue developing into a star player in the NFL.
