Veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb had a tough choice to make this offseason: he could return for his second season with the Dallas Cowboys or start fresh somewhere new for the second offseason in a row. Cobb chose the latter and signed a three-year deal worth $27 million with the Houston Texans earlier this month.

The reason? Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

In a conference call interview with various Houston reporters on Friday, Cobb explained how Watson convinced him to sign with the Texans.

“The reason I picked the Texans is, obviously, I think that you look at what they’ve been able to do over the past few years,” Cobb said. “[They] went to the playoffs four of the past five times. At this point in my career, I still don’t have a ring, so I want to be in a situation where I have that possibility.

“I think when you look at Deshaun and what he’s been able to do since he’s been in the league, I’ve been really impressed from afar watching him. He has tremendous ability. He’s a winner. He’s won at every level, from high school to college. I think he has that ability to take us to a Super Bowl and I want to be a part of something special with him.”

Last season for Dallas, the former Pro Bowler recorded 55 catches for 828 yards and three touchdowns despite only starting in six games. Now, entering his 10th season, Randall Cobb will have a chance to make a big impact with a Texans team that traded away their top receiver in DeAndre Hopkins.
