A new report suggests that the Matt Reeves-directed and Robert Pattinson-led The Batman Part II has hit a huge production roadblock.

Midgard Times reported that the filming for The Batman Part II has been delayed after previously being set to begin in November 2023. While the cause has not been confirmed, speculation suggests that the ongoing WGA writers' strike has a hand in it as both Reeves and Mattson Tomlin — the writers of the film — are actively part of the strike.

Filming will now begin in March 2024 in London, UK — a delay of four months. Midgard Times' report theorizes that The Batman Part II's release date of October 3, 2025, could remain even with the four-month delay. However, we'll see if the anticipated production date does come to fruition or not.

The Batman Part II isn't the only film in Reeves' Batman universe to be impacted by the WGA strike. The Penguin — the first spinoff series in the universe and starring Colin Farrell — had to pause production thanks to the strike.

The Batman was Matt Reeves' first Batman film and starred Robert Pattinson as its titular hero in which he faced off with the Ridder (played by Paul Dano). Other supporting characters included Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), and the Penguin (Farrell). Don't ask me to explain where this film takes place continuity-wise in the grand scheme of the DCU — I believe it's in its own pocket universe (?) — but regardless of how confusing that is, audiences ate it up as the film grossed $770.9 million worldwide during its theatrical run last year.
