With Thor: Love and Thunder now out in theaters, fans are absolutely pumped. There's been much anticipation for this movie, ever since it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.

The writer, Jason Aaron, recently sat down with USA Today's For The Win and discussed a variety of topics about Thor, but none other was more hilarious than his motivation behind a certain scene that involved the 2014 Sugar Bowl between the Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide:

There are several sports references that have made their way into my work. When I first took over Thor, the status quo was that Asgard had descended to Earth and was floating above Oklahoma. It may not be a complete coincidence that Oklahoma had just trashed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and around that same time I destroyed the town of Broxton, Oklahoma. It served the story but I can’t say I didn’t take some joy from enacting some fictional revenge on the state of Oklahoma.

Aaron is evidently a Bama fan. The Crimson Tide got absolutely pummeled that year by the Sooners, losing 45-21 in shocking fashion. Aaron made sure to get his revenge on Oklahoma in Thor. This tweet has aged well:

Aaron got some serious joy from getting those trolls to destroy the town of Broxton, Oklahoma. Aside from the Thor movie he just finished up, Aaron also revealed he's working on two new Avengers books and a few more issues of The Punisher, which is an absolute classic that everybody loved when it came out on Netflix.
