The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading to the postseason for just the second time in 17 years after beating the Los Angeles Clippers in the Play-In Tournament on Tuesday night. It wasn’t easy by any means, but they managed to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, despite being without Karl-Anthony Towns, who fouled out.
A huge reason for the victory was the brilliance of Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell, who combined for 59 points. Edwards had the perfect reaction to his 30-point performance on Twitter:
When the lights come on, I show up. #Thurskii

Boy, did he show up. The Timberwolves guard proved just why he was the first overall selection in the 2020 draft, stepping up in a big way on a night where KAT struggled to produce. Ant went 5 for 11 from downtown and 10 for 21 from the field, hitting numerous big shots down the stretch for Minnesota.
Edwards did struggle at times this season, but he delivered when it mattered most. Now, the Timberwolves prepare for a first-round matchup with the high-flying Memphis Grizzlies, who have proven to be one of the best teams around in 2021/22. It will be a tough task, but Chris Finch’s group is full of confidence right now. Plus, they have a whole city behind them who are absolutely ecstatic to be playing meaningful basketball again.
Keep doing your thing, Anthony Edwards. It’s a sight for sore eyes.
