If there is one thing Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is not lacking, it's confidence–so much so that he declares himself as a GOAT.

Speaking to The Athletic recently, Towns highlighted how he has not modeled his game after anyone. He then emphasized his belief that he is the greatest shooting big man of all time, adding that he is a pioneer who is the second version of no one.

“Honestly man, I ain’t gotta play like nobody. I’m me,” Towns said. “I’m the greatest big man shooter of all time. That’s a fact. You can see the stats. I ain’t got to play like no one else. Everyone trying to find themselves to be the second version of me when I’m the first version. I don’t got to be the second version of someone else. I’m already an original. I don’t have to be a duplicate of someone else.”

Karl-Anthony Towns has been phenomenal for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 24.4 points on 50.6 percent shooting from the field and 41.8 percent from deep. In their latest four-game winning streak that has catapulted Minnesota to the playoff picture, he has also increased his numbers to 26.8 points on 51.4 percent shooting.

The confidence and swagger KAT is showing are certainly what the Timberwolves need right now as they try to establish themselves as playoff contender. As the franchise leader, he has to have that belief that he is the best in order to lead the team to the promised land.

Now, the challenge for Towns is to walk the talk. The title of GOAT big man shooter isn't really something one can claim simply by saying it, as he needs to actually achieve something before he can truly be in that discussion. Hopefully, his confidence and the dominance he has shown so far will be enough to keep him going to reach that ultimate goal of winning the NBA championship.
