Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry finished the 2019 campaign as the league's rushing champion. It seems he is expected to maintain his status in the 2020 NFL season.

Caesars Sportsbook has pegged Henry as the favorite to lead the league in rushing yards this season:

Derrick Henry 3-1
Ezekiel Elliott 6-1
Nick Chubb 8-1
Saquon Barkley 11-1
Josh Jacobs 12-1
Christian McCaffrey 13-1
Devin Singletary 16-1

The fact that Derrick Henry has emerged as the early favorite hardly comes as a surprise. He managed to take the league by storm with his historic rushing performance during the final stretch of the 2018 campaign and followed it up by showing it was no fluke by finishing the 2019 NFL season 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns on 5.1 yards per carry.

Henry was hoping that his efforts would be more than enough to make him the highest-paid running back in the league, however, he is still waiting on his lucrative extension after the Titans placed the franchise tag on him this offseason. Adding another rushing title to the resume is certainly a surefire way to land his big payday.

Checking in behind Derrick Henry is another fellow rushing champ in Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys star has kickstarted a familiar pattern of earning the title every other season since his arrival after taking home the award in 2016 and 2018. the recent track record suggests that history may be on Elliott's side in the 2020 campaign.

Of course, both former rushing champs will need to be aware of the talented, young running backs trying to surpass them in Nick Chubb, Saquon Barkley, and Josh Jacobs. It will be interesting to see which of these budding superstars is able to take that next step.
