The Tennessee Titans have some questions surrounding their quarterback situation with Marcus Mariota working his way through an elbow injury that occurred in the season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Since then, Mariota has continued to make progress from the injury, as he has was able to throw the ball on Thursday afternoon. Offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur stated that it was the best Mariota has looked in practice since he suffered the injury, according to Jim Wyatt of Titansonline.com.

This is an encouraging step forward for Mariota in his recovery from the injury. Earlier this week he voiced that he was experiencing some lingering issues with his throwing hand, including tingling sensations. The Titans have been quite attentive to this situation over the last several days. Their focus is on bringing him along at his own pace given the type of injury he is dealing with and his importance to their long-term future on the field.

Head coach Mike Vrabel stated a few days ago that Mariota's status for Week 3 action on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars hadn't changed. There isn't any clarity yet on how this latest development will impact his status moving forward this week, but it is a definite step in the right direction.

If he's unable to give it a go, the Titans will be comfortable to lean on backup Blaine Gabbert, as the temporary starter played effectively against the Houston Texans in Week 2, completing 13-of-20 passes for 117 yards along with a touchdown. Gabbert isn't a a huge factor with his arm, but he does provide stability for the team to rely on while they have a formidable two-headed running game in Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis.
