Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan sustained a torn ACL in their most recent matchup against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Lewan announced the news on his Twitter account:

Lewan sustained the injury in the third quarter of the game and walked gingerly towards the Titans' locker room and didn't make a return on the field afterward. The 29-year-old's ACL injury will shut him down for the remainder of the season.

Despite the absence of a prolific offensive lineman, quarterback Ryan Tannehill still managed to handle business and got the job done in overtime in a 42-36 win for the Titans. Tennessee is now 5-0 on the season.

The former Michigan standout became a mainstay for the Titans ever since they selected him with the 11th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He went on to be named to the 2014 PFWA All-Rookie Team and grabbed three straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2016 to 2018. He has started in 83 out of 88 games played for the Titans while also recording a reception and a touchdown through seven seasons played in the league.

While Lewan being sidelined for the remainder of the season is a tough blow, the Titans are currently in a good position to achieve their playoff aspirations with sole possession of the top spot in the AFC South.

The Titans will aim to extend their win streak to six games in a heavyweight matchup against another unbeaten team in the Pittsburgh Steelers for Week 7 proceedings.
