The Tennessee Titans have made some changes to their special-teams unit ahead of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. On Saturday, Tennessee released Cody Parkey and activated Ryan Succop to their active roster.

Since Week 1, the Titans have gone through two different kickers while Succop has been on injured reserve. First, Cairo Santos got a chance to fill in for Tennessee. But unfortunately, he was unable to get the job done.

In the first five weeks of the season, Santos made only four of his nine field-goal attempts (44.4 conversion rate). While struggling with field goals, Santos was able to make all 12 of his extra-point tries.

After Santos missed all four of his field goals in Week 5, the Titans released him in favor of Parkey. Of course, Parkey hadn't kicked since last year's NFC Wild Card game for the Chicago Bears. In that game, he double-doinked a 43-yard field goal that would've helped Chicago advance to the NFC Divisional Round.

With the Titans, Parkey performed pretty well in the three games that he started in. The former Bears kicker made all three of his field-goal attempts—including a 51-yarder. He also converted five of his six extra-point tries.

Despite his production, the Titans have activated Succop from injured reserve. Therefore, there is no need to keep two kickers on the roster moving forward.

Succop is in his sixth season with the Titans after spending five years with the Kansas City Chiefs. During his tenure in Tennessee, Succop has made 86.6 percent of his field goals and 94.5 percent of his extra points.
