Corey Davis does a lot of things right as a player. He's a smart, team-first receiver, but one who has not yet put up the numbers expected of him on a consistent basis — though he has shown flashes of brilliance.

According to a report from Travis Haney of The Athletic, Davis has the look of a breakout player so far this offseason. He's been confident and has just acted differently than he has in years past.

“I think he kind of just has a good sense of who he is as a player,” position coach Rob Moore said of Davis during minicamp. “He understands what it’s going to take to achieve the goals he’s set for himself. When I look at him, I look at a guy who’s maturing and who is accepting the role we’ve given him.”

While Davis has been the topic of some criticism after being a first-round pick, there's plenty of reason to think he'll break out in 2019.

Davis nearly reached 1,000 yards last season (891) despite all the quarterback issues the team faced last season. The dropoff from Marcus Mariota to Blaine Gabbert, who started several games while the former was injured, was often steep. This year, with former Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill backing up Mariota, the dropoff shouldn't be quite as bad in the case of another injury.

In addition, his best games came on the biggest stages.

Davis posted lines of 15 catches for 161 yards against the Eagles and 10-for -125 versus the Patriots. A player who doesn't shrink from the moment is always a good sign.

With all the limitations the offense had last year, Davis' performance was commendable. All signs point to a better 2019.
