Alex Pereira is a name that's familiar to kickboxing fans and Israel Adesanya supporters. The Brazilian used to compete for kickboxing promotion Glory and received a lot of notoriety for being the first and only man to knock out Adesanya.

Pereira has an MMA record of 3-1 with his last fight coming in 2020 at LFA 95 where he knocked out Thomas Powell in highlight-reel fashion. Since then it has been rumored that the UFC was going to sign him.

The news of Alex Pereira signing with the UFC was first reported by De Telegraaf. He is expected to compete in the middleweight division at 185 pounds.

Soon thereafter, BJPenn.com came out with a report that Pereira would be competing at UFC 268 and making his debut. The fight is not official yet but he is expected to take on Andreas Michailidis in the previously mentioned middleweight division.

The debut is exciting for many reasons but mostly for a hidden one. It's similar to when Joe Duffy and Conor McGregor competed in the UFC.

People were hoping the pair would rematch since Duffy bested him in their first fight back in Cage Warriors. This is the same situation here.

Many are hoping Alex Periera and Israel Adesanya would compete against each other in MMA after competing two times in kickboxing. Right now though, they are nowhere near each other career-wise.

Adesanya is the middleweight champion and Pereira still has yet to make his debut. The clock is ticking on a potential fight as Pereira is already 34.

UFC 268 is currently set to take place on November 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York
