Fatshark CEO and Co-Founder Martin Waglund recently released an open letter stating that the Xbox Series X|S release of Warhammer 40k Darktide, as well as its seasonal content, will be receiving a delay.

Wahlund also released the open letter on the official Darktide Twitter account. In the letter, he mentioned that they wanted to “deliver a game that millions can enjoy.”, something they with play for “weeks, not hours.” They said that they “fell short of meeting those expectations.” Wahlund said that for a few months, they will be focusing on addressing the various feedback they received from players. He mentioned the game's crafting system, progression loop, and game stability and performance as their main focuses. Because of this shift in focus, they announced that the seasonal content of the game, as well as the Xbox Series X|S launch, will be receiving a delay. he also included new cosmetics in the list of delayed items. Wahlund said that they “couldn't continue down this path”. He did not give a tentative date for the delay.

As someone who has played the game since the Closed Beta Test, and preordered the game to play it and give it a review, I understand where they are coming from. The game itself has various bugs, with some very much game-breaking. This includes the EXP bug during the Closed Beta, which prevented players (including me) from leveling up. This essentially locked us out from the rest of the game, as we only had access to the very basic equipment. Even during the pre-order beta, I still had the bug. It only got fixed a week or so before release. On release, I admittedly became one of the players who only played the game for hours. It's not that I didn't like the game. It just felt like it could be better.
