The Golden State Warriors are mourning the passing of longtime NBA assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. Milkojevic suffered a medical emergency during a team dinner on Tuesday and was hospitalized before his tragic death. Thus, head coach Steve Kerr thoughtfully reflected on Milkojevic's time with the team.

Kerr gave his condolences to Milojevic and his family in an elaborative statement:

“We are absolutely devastated by Dejan's sudden passing. This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him,” Kerr said, per Warriors PR.

The head coach emphasized Milojevic's positive impact on those around him.

“In addition to being a terrific basketball coach, Dejan was one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known, someone who brought joy and light to every single day with his passion and energy,” Kerr said.

He ended with, “We grieve with and for his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa. Their loss is unfathomable.”

Milojevic had a decorated basketball career. He played overseas for 15 years. Afterward, he served as a head coach at Mega Basket for eight years, where he coached Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic. He formed relationships with multiple international players in the NBA.

Furthermore, Milojevic spent a year with Budnucost before joining the Warriors as an assistant in 2021. Specifically, he aided in the development of Golden State's bigs and was a key part of Steve Kerr's staff.

All in all, Dejan Milojevic had a tremendous impact on those around him and will be dearly missed. He was 46 years old at the time of his passing.
