Draymond Green has already endured 12 losses in 14 games, a trend he's by no means used to considering how a perennial winner has enjoyed successful stints in high school, college, and in the pros.

While many executives have noticed the Golden State Warriors have pivoted to scout for the 2020 NBA Draft, Green isn't taking his eye away from the season just yet, arguing time will pass in due time and there's things still to be done in this otherwise lost season:

“I take this league one day at a time,” Green told Logan Murdock of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I'm not sitting here looking forward to next year. Next year will get here soon enough. I'm taking this season one day at a time because I'm trying to get better and trying to improve myself, trying to help these young guys improve. Whenever that time gets here, that time gets there.”

The Warriors will use this season as a major opportunity for their young core to develop. Rookies like Eric Paschall and Jordan Poole are already seeing major playing time, minutes they would have otherwise not seen with a healthy Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevon Looney.

Green has also been a victim of the slew of injuries that have plagued this roster, including missing five games with a torn ligament in his left index finger. Despite some of his health issues, Green doesn't think the four-year, $100 million extension he signed this summer will be his last deal as a pro:

“No,” Green deadpanned. “I get a lot of nicks and knacks, which part of it just comes from the way I play. But I'm not going to act like I'm just the most beat-up guy. There are guys that have had three, four major surgeries and they say like, ‘Thank God.’ Knock on wood, I've never had a surgery. It's all relative.”

The Warriors will manage Green's minutes and appearances to ensure he finishes the season healthy, but the defensive ace will make the most of his time on the court to teach and develop chemistry with the rest of his team — something he can carry into the 2020-21 season, even if he's not ready to look that far ahead just yet.
