Draymond Green has found success both on and off the court this season. He's helped the Warriors get to the playoffs where they now hold a 2-0 lead over the Denver Nuggets in the first round. On the other hand, he's also running a highly-successful podcast that has gained traction over the past several months.
The Warriors star recently admitted, however, that being on the receiving end of some harsh criticism is also part of the deal of being a podcast host. Speaking to Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, Green revealed how Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo once gave him a not-so-pleasant phone call about Green undermining Adebayo's Defensive Player of the Year credentials:
For instance, a few months ago, Miami's Bam Adebayo was livid after listening to Green's podcast because he wasn't named as a shoo-in for Defensive Player of the Year.
So Adebayo gave Green a call.
“He was like, ‘What the f—, you mean nobody has solidified themselves as Defensive Player of the Year?'” Green recalled. “‘Do you not watch me play?'”
It was a fair question. Green hadn't watched Adebayo play much because Miami's games often conflicted with him getting ready for his own, a reality he acknowledged to the Heat's big man.
What an interesting conversation that would have been. For his part, though, Green does not seem to mind the backlash. The Warriors star understands that it's part of the gig and that in truth, he too would be one of the first to call out anyone for something he does not agree with.
