Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors took care of business on Christmas Day. In a clash of the NBA's two top teams, they came out on top against the Phoenix Suns, 116-107.

When it comes to the Warriors, fans come to watch the offense hum with Stephen Curry leading the way. But the on-court success comes in large part thanks to their stifling defense.

Curry knows it too, stating that they took things personally on that end of the floor against their rival Suns.

Via ESPN's Nick Friedell:

“Our defensive presence tonight was unreal,” said the Warriors star. “Everybody who stepped foot on the floor took that personally and we just stuck with it. So a step in the right direction looking at the playoffs — which is still four months away.”

The Phoenix Suns are no slouches themselves on the defensive end, ranking second in the NBA in defensive rating at 103.4. But the Golden State Warriors are simply at another level defensively from them and the rest of the league, placing first with their sterling 101.8 defensive rating.

In a season defined by offensive struggles and players missing time, the old adage that defense wins championships may very well hold true to form this season. In the battle of the two best defenses in the NBA, the Warriors showed why they're a cut above everyone else.
