Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry recently faced his former teammate in Kevin Durant who is now donning the threads of the Brooklyn Nets for the first game of the 2020-2021 season. The two-time NBA MVP then spoke on how their first encounter went since Durant's previous relocation to New York, per Connor Letourneau.

Curry also didn't shy away from saying that the revamped Warriors still have plenty of room for improvement to get where they want to be by the end of the season, Letourneau added.

The Warriors visibly lacked firepower on the offensive end with dismal contributions from Kelly Oubre Jr. and Andrew Wiggins who scored 6 and 13 points, respectively. Perhaps, a silver lining from the team would be Curry's double-double performance of 20 points and 10 assists along with James Wiseman's 19-point outing in his NBA debut.

Dub Nation wasn't at its best with Draymond Green failing to suit up for their season opener due to a foot soreness while Klay Thompson was already ruled out for the remainder of their campaign with a right Achilles injury.

On the other end of the floor, Durant was looking like his old self as he recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists in 24 minutes. The Warriors now tallied their first loss of the season after suffering a 125-99 beating from the new-look Nets squad.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors will have their hands full once again as they travel to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day for their second game of the season.
