Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green were fined by the NBA for publicly criticizing officials after their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

According to the official statement from the league, Green was fined $35,000 for criticizing officiating through social media. The league also handed a $25,000 and $15,000 fine to Curry and Durant, respectively, for their statement against the officiating.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was not surprised, though, saying that they expected the fines. The three-time champion head coach said that they are aware of the rules, which was the reason why they knew right away that penalties are coming.

“We know the rules,” Kerr said of the fines handed to his players via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Our guys knew what was coming.”

Kerr and his players were fuming when the referees waved off a possible four-point play from Durant in the extra period of their 131-130 loss the Warriors. Had the referees rewarded Durant continuation, he could have tied the game, and possibly won it for Golden State with the bonus free throw.

In the ensuing play, Curry buried a three-pointer, which tied the game at 130. However, with just 0.5 seconds left to play in the game. Referee Leon Wood called a fouled on Durant, pointing out that the former Most Valuable Player tried to push Karl-Anthony Towns, who was trying to catch an alley-oop pass. Towns converted one of his two free throws to give the Timberwolves a narrow win.

Curry and Durant said that referee Marat Kogut, the official who waived off the possible four-point play of Durant, was the best player of the game. Green posted cryptic tweets, with most fans saying that he was comparing Kogut to controversial referee Tim Donaghy.
