Despite already having the most talented team in the league, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says there's still a roster spot up for grabs for a wing. Restricted free agent Patrick McCaw has declined a contract offer from the Warriors, which is the reason why the defending champions are still looking for a reliable backup at that wing position.

Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle reported out this interesting development for the Bay Area fans.

McCaw's decision to decline a contract from the Warriors came rather unexpectedly as he had already secured a consistent spot in Kerr's rotation before he suffered a nasty back injury that hampered his progress with the team. The youngster didn't play much down the stretch of last season due to the injury, and he was a non-factor during the team's postseason run to a second straight championship. Still, there was an assumption that he would be back.

The Warriors brought 18 players to training camp, with 13 players holding guaranteed contracts. That leaves two open roster spots, though Golden State was planning on using only 14 roster spots rather than the maximum of 15. That 14th spot was expected to go to McCaw, but now the two-time defending champs may be looking elsewhere.

With this in mind, Kerr knows he could use a solid wing presence to rely on if the team's main stars get sidelined due to injuries. Veteran scorer Jamal Crawford is still on the market, as are players like Joe Johnson, Arron Afflalo and Corey Brewer.
