Christmas Day is a momentous day in the NBA season. Every year, some of the best teams in the league (and the New York Knicks) play some beautiful basketball as a holiday present to the fans. Even the players themselves think that this a big honor to play on Christmas… except for a certain Golden State Warriors star.

Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter on the planet on most days… except for Christmas, apparently. The Warriors superstar has struggled when he plays on December 25. That led him to make a cheeky remark about why he hates playing on that day ahead of their matchup against the Phoenix Suns on that day. (via u/Balls_of_Adamanthium on Reddit)

“I like it because it means you're one of the marquee teams… I personally don't like 'cause I haven't played well.”

It's certainly weird how Stephen Curry seems to turn into an average player on Christmas Day, like it's some curse put on him. In seven Christmas Day games, the Warriors superstar has averaged a measly 12.3 points per game shooting from the field AND from deep. Perhaps this is the price Curry had to pay for his otherworldly shooting.

Perhaps this is the season Curry turns it around, though. After all, he did just grab the all-time record for most threes in a regular-season career recently. Maybe that would motivate him to play better, or the fact that the Warriors playing another talented Western Conference team in the Suns. Either way, the league is infinitely better when Stephen Curry performs incredibly well, especially on Christmas Day.
